Advertisement Reflection

The above ad is a hershey's ad that is very simple and to the point. I really like the use of similiar color, balance, and text, however, there seems to be way to much white space and a few other issues. There is really not much that will catch an eye, except the word hershey's. Also, the use of 'my' so many times really bugs me...
So, this ad may work for some, but really needs alot of work...

InDesign Likes

InDesign seems like it is a lot like Photoshop and Illustrator, with all the tools and actions.
The ability to enter text within a shape is amazing and easy!
The frame tool is grteat if one would like to add pictures.
The addition of free transform within the tools list, really saves time.
The gradient feathering tool is fun to change the gradient colors.
The ability to look at an entire book, magazine, or piece of work is amazing!

Can't wait to get started!

Personal Logo

Here are two different personal logos that I have created that are focused on me!

The first really displays me because of the color and the use of the dress design in the corner!

The second is a design that I created a long time ago, that really looks fun and flowing!

INTERGRATING ADOBE

So far I have learned many aspects of both photoshop and illustrator... but to use both of them at the same time is amazing!

1. Using photoshop to make pictures look amazing.

2. Text created in photoshop is much better than text in illustrator.

3. Photoshop is also great for creating great text effects.

4. Photoshop also creates great 3D text effects.

5. Illustrator is great for designing anything, from clothing to people.

By using the two programs to create certain things, and then combining the finished product, the work looks amazing!

Analyzing Logos

Everyone knows what the above image is and what it stands for. The logo is just text, but text in a magical font. This company uses many colors within the logo, Disney, but this one really popped out at me because of all the colors. The colors remind me of children and fun! They kind of display a rainbow!

This is another well known company, with a pretty great logo. The use of both words and a symbol really sends the customer a grand idea for what the company is trying to provide.
The use of blue really shows the viewer trustworthiness, reliability, and confidence. They know the company will not let them down. The symbol really adds a spark to the logo, and the use of yellow adds warmth and happiness.

Arbys is a great company for that amazing roast beef and cheese sandwich. The above logo has text, symbol, and product all in one. The arbys text is a great font, that really adds to the logo, and the color red increases excitement of the customer, adding an increase in want for the product.
The symbol, hat, adds some country style to the logo, and the red does the same as before, increasing the customers want or excitement of the product.
The actually product makes the viewer really want the product, because it looks really tasty and this really adds desire for the product.

So, in chapter 9, I am really excited about the creation of the gradients.... I love how you can change each color....
In chapter 10... brushes are amazing!!! I love all the brush shapes.... the blob brush... and how we can use these tools...
This is such a creative program... I think I may like it better than photoshop!!!

Cool Information Concerning Illustrator!!!

So, I am not very happy that we have to move away from Photoshop, but as I was reading about illustrator I realized it seems pretty amazing as well...
I really like the Blob Brush, the Gradient Tool, and Isolation Mode. The Blob Brush is neat because it allows the user to merge existing paths with new paths.. this allows for easy work for both of the drawings at the same time..
The Gradient Tool was amazing in Photoshop, but it seems a bit better in Illustrator.... the user can actually define the opacity of each color within the gradient, instead of just both colors with the same opacity...
Isolation Mode allows the user to fix something within a group of works... without interfering with the other items within the group... this way the user does not have to ungroup items just to fix one item..
Well, hope it all goes well in Illustrator... we will see!!! Let's get started!!

Text Effect Fun

For the 06B assignment, I chose to use the Layered Glowing Text Effect...

This effect really caught my eye, because of the glowing that is used and because of the flier that I have created. The flier I have created is advertising an upcoming fashion show for an apparel location in town... I really think that the colors went well and the design was very fitting for this piece of work....
The process of creation was fairly simple... We begin by adding 3 layers of gradient, next typing the text, putting text effects on the text(Outer Glow and a Stroke on the Layer), duplicating the letter layer 20 times, creating an eliptical marquee at base of text, Flatten image, adding a new layer, using the Perspective option to make this layer fit in the foreground of the previous layer, and selecting the letters, Coping the letters, and Flipping the Vertically below the original text...
Creates a very appealing text effect... Love it!!!

Typography Examples

*Lesson 6- Typography Examples*
Good Example
File Name- GoodExample
Source of Example- http://visionwidget.com/showcase/graphics/293-creative-typography.html
Elements of Design Exhibited- The designer may have used a gradient for the background, some blending attributes, such as: Blur, Dodge, Clone Stamp, and many others, Rotation of Text, and many other tools.
Why Item is Effective- The type is very attractive, as well as the amazing design interlaced within the text. I want to be as good at Photoshop as this designer is!!
Target Audience- This seems like the focus would be for the younger audience, such as teenagers and young adults.

Bad Example
File Name- BadExample
Source of Example- http://behance.vo.llnwd.net/profiles/53318/projects/92669/533181210951125.jpg
Elements of Design Exhibited- Looks like the designer used the Blur tool, the Text option… and that is about it.
Why Item is Ineffective- The design just looks ‘blah’…. I think I like color… the words are to smudged looking and there is no flavor…
Target Audience- No one. Well, maybe they were going for the up and coming audience. This would be a great example for bad typography for a college course.

Clipping Mask

Well, I was just reading Chapter 7, and the Clipping Mask Selection is kind of amazing!!
I really like how you can pick where you what to show a picture... so, if you have two pictures... and you have an area in one picture where you want the other picture to show through... that is when you use the clipping mask... Cool!!!

Interesting and Fun Stuff

So, in Chapter 4, I really enjoyed working with the gradient tool! I was really interesting how we can change the foreground and background colors, in the tool bar, to cause a new gradient. I also liked the different selections of gradient that we can chose.

For Chapter 5, the quick mask tool is very useful when we want to select a certain oject within the piece that we are working on. This allowed for great selection skill. The Channels function seems to be unique aswell, because you can see what the image look like in each shade of color.

After these two chapters, I feel like I am getting the hang of the software alot better!

Manipulating Selections in Chapter 3

This section really caught my attention when I was reading, because this adds the use of the spacebar to resize the selection area.
So, if you would like to select an oval shape, you would use the Elliptical Marquee tool, drag across the area to select, do not let go of left mouse button, then press the spacebar and drag. This is allowing you to move the selection to fit the area that you would like to include. You can repeat this process as many times as you need, just don't let go of the mouse button or you will have to go all the way back to step one.

Fun With Composition

For my first picture, the use of of lines is very apparent, but I believe there are way too many lines. My eyes do not know where to go... AHHH!!! Maybe if the artist just minimized the lines a bit, it would not be so bad.

For the second picture, centering is being utilized very well. The artist has centered this image on a black canvas, which allows it to be brought right out, making your eyes really know what to do... FOCUS!

Last, but not least, here is an example of framing. This is a natural frame, created by a cave. So someone is inside the cave, taking this shot. I believe this looks very good.

Graphic Design Photo Assignment

This picture is very proportional by the use of similar shapes in the same positions. The alignment is also very good, with the use of similar shapes.

This picture seems to have good balance with the main text, but to me, it looks to busy because of the addition of the scribble behind the main text. Also, there seems to be too much space at the top of the page, which could be used by positioning the text in different areas.
